Oh The Places We’ll Go!

Here are just a few of the incredible places to explore with Garrison Fishing Guides.

We will fine tune your experience based on what you are looking for and where the fishing is hot!

Bon Tempe Reservoir, Marin County

Bon Tempe Reservoir is located at the northwest foot of Mount Tamalpais near Fairfax.  It is the widest lake in the watershed of Mt. Tam along Lagunitas Creek. This lake is a hot spot for both Large and Smallmouth Bass fishing with an array of sunfish, like Bluegill. It is stocked with Trout for the hungry angler and is also home to many species of birds, deer, snakes, turtles, and much more wildlife to observe.

Because of the width and shape of the lake, there is an opportunity to follow the sun and/or avoid the wind to keep control of the changing water conditions. There are many protected bays, coves, and types of structures as well. This is the perfect place to spend the morning before heading into the town of Fairfax for a mid-afternoon break.

Stinson Beach, Marin County

An all-time favorite, Stinson Beach is located about 35 minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge along Highway 1 as you enter Bolinas Bay. This 3-mile long beach faces S-SE and is home to endless species of wildlife that visit year-round.

Here we hone our saltwater fishing in search of various types of Surf Perch, Halibut, and the notorious Striped Bass. Very large bass (like the one on the right, caught and released by Bradford Butler) can be found in these waters feeding on the abundance of shrimp, crab, and smaller fish. The town of Stinson Beach is a great place to spend an afternoon and grab a delicious Burger at the Parkside Cafe.

Crissy Field, San Francisco

Nestled into the Presidio of San Francisco and under the iconic Golden Gate Bridge is a stretch of coast that is as rich with history as it is with beauty (and fish). Crissy Field was home to the Native Ohlone people, used as an army airfield, industrial area for military, and is now recreational land for the public to enjoy.

Crissy Field is where the Pacific Ocean meets the San Francisco Bay. It is a hotspot for fish to cruise by in search of a snack during the tidal changes. You never know what is going to be caught here but it is definitely one of the most beautiful places to fish on the planet.

“Max has helped me go from a beginner fly fisherman, who didn’t know how to approach fishing a lake, to the point where I now feel confident that I’m going to catch multiple fish every time I go fishing... even when I’m fishing on my own!

He’s taught me many of the basics like how to tie knots quickly and correctly, how to spot fish in all conditions and which flies to use on a given day. I’ve caught more fish since my first time fishing with Max than I have my entire life! I highly recommend him as the best guide in Marin".
